The Bear Put Spread is one of many vertical spreads, meaning that the options that you are buying and selling expire in the same month. This strategy is unique because it seems to defy some basic rules that are common with options. Typically in the options world, when you pay for something ("debit" trade) time is working against you. When selling options ("credit" trade) time decay is working in your favor. This strategy can take advantage of time decay as a "Debit" trade, even if the stock doesn't move. It's a great way to participate with the bear trends we see in the market today.
